How the Trust Fund Works
LiUNAcare Local 506 Administers the Trust Fund that Supports Your Benefits
The Labourers’ International Union of North America Local 506 Members Benefit Trust Fund is maintained by contributions your employers make on your behalf. These contributions are made to the Trust Fund as a result of a Collective Bargaining Agreement. The benefits provided by the Trust Fund are purchased from various insurance companies, according to the needs of your benefits coverage.
LiUNAcare Local 506
LiUNAcare Local 506 carries out the day-to-day functions of the Trust Fund. This includes helping you access your benefits by assisting with forms, developing more convenient ways to access benefits – like with mobile apps – and keeping you informed with regular updates and programs.
The Trustees
The Trust Fund is managed by a Board of Trustees. The Trustees are responsible for the design of your benefit packages and for the allocation of the contributions made by your employers.
To help carry out their duties, the Trustees appoint various people, such as accountants, consultants and lawyers, to provide them with professional advice. The Trustees meet with these advisors from time to time to review the management of the Trust Fund. The Trustees make all decisions that are necessary at these meetings by voting on each one.
