As you may be aware, Canada Post and the CUPW have announced that starting October 11^th, they will be moving from a full national strike to rotating strike activity.

Payments for benefit claims that were received and processed prior to October 11, 2025, have been placed in the mail.

Due to the uncertainty of Canada Post services during the rotating strikes, you may experience delays in mail delivery in the affected areas. At this time, we are not aware of which areas will be impacted once the rotating strike activity begins.

We encourage members to utilize the digital options available for expedited service during this time, please contact our Customer Service line for further information on the following:

• *NEW* – Register for Direct Deposit, have all payments deposited directly into your bank account.
  • Direct Deposit Form
• Submit Claims Online, using the LiUNAcare eClaims online portal or mobile app.

Dear members of LiUNA Local 506,

As you may be aware, Canada Post received strike notices from the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW), for both Urban and RSMC (Rural and Suburban Mail Carriers) bargaining units. The notices indicate that CUPW intends to begin strike activity as of Friday, May 23 at 12:00 am, unless the parties reach agreements before then.

LiUNAcare Local 506 continues to closely monitor the situation and are working with our business partners to mitigate the impacts of the potential labour disruption in our service to the Local 506 membership and affiliates. The Executive Board of LiUNA Local 506 and the Board of Trustees of the Labourers’ Union Local 506 Members Benefit Trust Fund are proud to provide an updated benefit booklet effective January 1, 2025. LiUNA Local 506 and the Board of Trustees of the Labourers’ Union Local 506 Members Benefit Trust Fund have made important updates to the member eligibility requirements.

Starting December 18th, 2022, the EI Sickness Benefit Period has been extended from 15 to 26 weeks. As a result, the coordination between EI Accident and Sickness Benefits and the Short-Term Disability Benefit has been modified.
